Weekly Blog Post 9/13 (Article)

What I learned:
  • Model miniatures are sometimes the better and cheaper alternative to making a quality movie.
  • I didn't know that a lot of different places on the earth could be shot in California.
  • I didn't know that in Spielbergs, "The Grind." The giant COTOPAXI ship in the desert was not real.

What I think:

  • What I like is that these new techniques are being talked about more and more for new film makers to actually be able to try to make it in the industry.
  • I like that in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" Spielberg used the Mojave desert in California to double for the Gobi desert in Asia.

A question that I have:
  • If CGI added to force perspective will make a scene look more realistic or if it adds too much realism to the point where where looks unrealistic?
